Doodle Together as Family and Friends
Doodling isn't just an individual activity. When you doodle together as friends, family, or even fellow employees, it can make your doodles more meaningful while having an enjoyable time creating them. Growing up, my family would doodle together often. We would have a family night once a week were we would get together for different meaningful activities, games, and treats. Most of our activities centered around art. Along with the examples on my

, here are some more "doodle together" activities. Representation of Each Other My mom would write all of our names on a small piece of paper and put them in a hat. Each of us would then draw a name (not our own) and we were to draw pictures that represented the person that we picked. They could be sports that they played, food they liked or favorite activity. It was up to us to do the best job we could. We then would take turns presenting our drawing to the family. We would laugh and smile at what we would think of to draw. Everything was positive and brought a great feeling to the time we spent doing the activity. (You could easily adapt this to other settings like work, school, or church.) Family Brand My parents have always had this huge cow hide that has hung on the wall of every house we have lived in. It has different brands all over it, at least 15 of them. All of the brands are different and represent the different farmers and ranchers the cow belonged to. Well none of my immediate family are farmers and havn't owned any kind of animal besides a dog and an occasional fish. But that didn't stop us from coming up with our own family brand. You can also think of it as a family logo. It's so fun to have a little doodle that represents your family. Businesses have logos, why can't families? Family Flag At a family reunion a few years ago, we were given the assignment to come up with a family flag. The flag was to have pictures or designs that represented our family. It was a really cute idea. At the reunion each family had to share their flag and explain the ideas they used to represent their own family. We then all participated in a family parade holding our flags. These activities may sound goofy or trivial, but they can really bring a family closer together. You would be surprised at how creative a family, or group of friends, can be when you bring in an art project that is a little different from the norm.
